The "Electrifying" Eta Alpha Zeta Chapter was chartered on November 20, 1967 by nine astonishing women: Joyce A. Dean, Ernestine S. Everett, Justine Graham, Constance B. Jennings, Orna M. Jones, Elma Sullivan, Lela W. Wesley, Loraine White, and Martha T. Williams. These women felt a need to establish a chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. in the area to not only afford other eligible women a chance for membership into our great sorority, but to uplift the community through various programs and events. Since our charter Eta Alpha Zeta has had many accomplishments such as : establishing several scholarships available to the youth, organizing four auxiliary groups for girls and women, sponsoring the chartering of the Gamma Tau chapter on the campus of Florida Gulf Coast University, adopting Lee Charter Academy a Title 1 school within the Dunbar community, providing educational and inspirational programs and much more. Most recently, the chapter implemented a Finer Womanhood Luncheon during the month of March dedicated to honoring women within the community who exemplify the ideals of Finer Womanhood.
